EXPLORE SAFARI REGIONS

Serengeti National Park

This is the national park that probably first comes to mind when you think of the word ‘safari’, and with good reason as the Serengeti is home to the Great Migration. It is located in north-central Tanzania and is inhabited by over 2 million ungulates, 4000 lions, 1000 leopards and so much more in an area close to 15,000 square kilometres in size.

Recommended Visit Duration: 3-4 days

Ngorongoro Crater National Park

Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world’s biggest intact volcanic caldera and home to 115 different animal species. The rim of the crater is about 2,200m high and has its own climate. Being one of the few places where you can see the big 5 animals (lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffaloes) this is definitely a place to not be missed when planning your safari experience. You can also encounter Maasai communities and learn about their traditional way of life.

Recommended Visit Duration: 1-2 days

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is a scenic park that encompasses a large soda lake, dense forests, and open grassy areas. It’s renowned for its tree-climbing lions, flamingoes, large elephant population, hippos, and vibrant birdlife.

Recommended Visit Duration: Half to Full Day

Tarangire National Park

Named after the permanent Tarangire River being it’s most dominant feature, this national park attracts large numbers of elephants (one of the largest elephant populations in Africa), wildebeests, gazelles and various predators like lions that come to drink and graze around the river banks, during the rain months of November to May.

Recommended Visit Duration: 1-2 days

Arusha National Park

Home to Tanzania’s second highest mountain, Mount Meru and the world’s largest population of giraffes. Being the most accessible of all parks – just 25 km east of Arusha, it can be done as a day trip.

Recommended Visit Duration: Half to Full Day

Mkomazi National Park

Previously a game reserve and fairly new in its designation as a National Park, Mkomazi has a number of uniqueness. It has fewer crowds as it is remote and originally difficult to reach but this means animals roam around even freely. You’ll also get the chance to visit the rhino sanctuary!

Recommended Visit Duration: 1 Day

Kilimanjaro trek We have booked Kilimanjaro trek for August. Starting from the initial stage, the support they have provided is really great, they made sure to check our gears and suggested the missing ones. Guides were extraordinary, cant thank them enough for making our trek successful. I would highly recommend them for Kilimanjaro. Even they have suggested for a day trip to Chemka hot springs and they have managed all of these very professionally.

Wonderful Experience Did my first ever high altitude trek at Kilimanjaro with the help of ZAFS tourism. Needless to say, the guides and the porters were very helpful and supportive. Every team member was polite and humble . Enjoyed the entire trip and would gladly recommend them to anyone who are willing to trek the kilimanjaro... Their hospitality extended even beyond the reaches of kilimanjaro and helped us in accomodation and commutations. Had a really good time and brought back many memories. Thanks ZAFS!

Friendly, personalised & professional service What an experience! Our 7 day Kilimanjaro trek with ZAFS Tours is something we'll never forget. As a locally owned and operated company, ZAFS gave us personalised service and attention every step of the way. Huzeifa made sure we had all the information well before our trip and was available to answer our many questions about what to pack and the various logistics. Any gear we didn't have we were able to hire in Moshi - which saved us buying it. On the mountain, the support crew (including 3 guides, a cook and 19 porters) were exceptional. They ensured we had everything we needed every day - from coffee delivered to our tent in the morning, to nutritious meals, and even filling our hot water bottles at night. They really set us up for success on the summit. We honestly feel so lucky to have chosen ZAFS to organise our trek and to have had the team we did while on the mountain. For anyone considering a Kilimanjaro trek, I have no hesitation in recommending ZAFS.

Brilliant experience with ZAFS. Highly recommend them for your Tanzania Trip! We did a 12 nights day trip that included across 6 nights in North & Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park; 2 nights in transit (Dar Es Salam and Arusha) and 4 nights in Zanzibar. The experience was very comfortable from the first interaction itself - Huzeifa made time over multiple calls to understand our expectations and then help plan the trip; instead of sending us a templatised itinerary and force fitting our plans around it. He never really tried to “sell” us anything, except maybe the fact that Tanzania will blow our mind, and blow it did :) . He never pushed anything and was flexible to even let us manage our own hotel accommodation when we didn’t like any of the options he sent. While we were apprehensive about how the whole safari experience would be, the trip was super comfortable - the accommodations were great, our driver Kefa was fantastic (do ask for him if you’re planning a trip!) and the safari vehicle was absolutely top notch. The ZAFS team was very accommodative of our requests (leaving late or early, but mostly coming back late; food requests, etc.) and took extra care to ensure each aspect of the trip worked like clockwork. We even had Huzeifa himself check-in on us almost every day to ensure everything was going all right, even when we were on our own in Zanzibar. Our pick ups were always on time and all the people we interacted were warm and very friendly. Overall, very impressed with the level of service from the team and will highly recommend planning a safari with them. I’m definitely going back to Tanzania with them, this time with my whole family!

PRIVATE CLIMB MOUNT KILIMANJARO 5DAYS 4NIGHTS I private climbed Mount Kilimanjaro 5days 4nights via Marangu Route, everything was provided by ZAFS TOUR. why did I choose ZAFS? Because ZAFS is a tour operator who already has an Outdoor Shop, the name of the shop is GILMANS OUTDOOR. so for many climbing rental needs I only do 1 door and coordinate with the guide, and of course the price is cheaper but the facilities are very good. The staff were all very communicative and made my trip enjoyable. never be afraid to choose a private climb, I have experienced it and it is a lifetime experience that will not be forgotten. greetings from Indonesia!😊

Kilimanjaro through the Machame route Zafs Tours provided an exceptional experience for climbing Kilimanjaro through the Machame route. From start to finish, the guides, Adrian and Albert, along with the porters, kitchen staff, and other staff members, demonstrated a high level of friendliness and professionalism. Throughout the journey, Adrian and Albert proved to be knowledgeable and experienced guides. They provided clear instructions, ensured the safety of the group, and offered valuable insights about the mountain and its surroundings. Their expertise and guidance were instrumental in making the climb a success. The porters and kitchen staff were also remarkable. They carried heavy loads, set up campsites, and prepared delicious meals that fueled our energy for the challenging ascent. FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Expect familiar food with occasional local touches. Most lodges will offer buffet-style dining whilst others may have set menus. If you have any dietary requirements we can accommodate these for you but please let us know in advance. If you are out driving during the day, your driver will take a packed lunch for you.

  • As hunting is strictly prohibited in all the National Parks, this means Tanzania has one of the highest densities of wildlife. Higher park fees keep the number of visitors relatively low and so there is a more exclusive experience. All safaris in Tanzania are conducted with 4×4 off-road vehicles unlike other countries that use small family cars and this makes the experience all the more memorable.

The different National Parks – Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro – may look close on a map, but there is a considerable amount of driving between each location. Approximate driving times are listed below. While this gives you the opportunity to see more of the Tanzania countryside – look out for Maasai villages beside the road, children tending their herds of goats and cattle, and roadside markets – you will not see any game during these transit times.

    • Moshi to Lake Manyara – 4 hours

    • Arusha to Tarangire – 2.5 hours

    • Tarangire to Ngorongoro – 3 hours

    • Ngorongoro to Serengeti – 4 hours

    • Lake Manyara to Serengeti – 5 hours

We would recommend being up and early for a game drive – around 6am as this time is cooler in the day, the animals are most active, you get ahead of the other tourists and since the park fees are paid by day (end of day being 6pm) then leaving early means you can get the most out of the day. However, as we provide you with a completely customisable itinerary, you are free to choose your schedule depending on your comfort.

Our safari vehicle can accommodate up to 7 people. Every vehicle will have a rooftop and sliding windows for better viewing experience
